Radiation proctitis is inflammation and damage to the rectum following radiation therapy for pelvic cancers (cervical, prostate, rectal). PROCEDURES: • Medical treatment — sucralfate enemas, anti-inflammatory agents • Formalin therapy — effective for bleeding radiation proctitis • Surgical procedure — for severe cases with stricture, fistula, or perforation SYMPTOMS: • Rectal bleeding • Diarrhea and urgency • Rectal pain or tenesmus • Mucus discharge
