A perianal abscess is a painful collection of pus near the anus, commonly caused by infection of anal glands. PROCEDURES: • Incision and Drainage (I&D) — primary treatment • Antibiotic therapy (adjunct) • Follow-up to monitor for fistula development SYMPTOMS: • Severe throbbing pain near the anus • Swelling and redness • Fever and feeling unwell • Difficulty sitting IMPORTANT: Untreated abscesses frequently progress to fistula in ano. Early treatment prevents complications.
